Code of Conduct
Last updated: 2026-05-26
This is a community of enthusiasts. Be the person you'd want on the team.
The vibe
Garage Built is for people who love building stuff. Cars, trucks, bikes, dirtbikes, ATVs, SxS — doesn't matter, the energy is the same: we're here because we care about the work.
That means:
- Hype people up when they do something cool. Build-status flips, day-one celebrations, first run on a new setup — call it out.
- Ask honest questions when you don't understand a choice. Don't dunk on it.
- Give specifics when you give advice. "I tried that, here's what happened" beats "you're doing it wrong" every time.
- Treat newer builders the way someone treated you when you were starting out — or the way you wish they had.
What gets reported (and what might happen)
Reports go to our moderation queue. A human reviews them. We don't tell the reported user who filed it. Possible outcomes range from no action, to removing the specific content, to suspending or banning the account.
Spam
- Examples: copy-pasted promo posts, repeated comments across builds, drop-shipping store links jammed into install notes, follow-for-follow bait.
- Outcome: warnings escalate fast; persistent spam = account ban.
Harassment
- Examples: name-calling, dog-piling someone in the comments, repeatedly engaging after they've asked you to stop, sharing someone's personal info, comments about their family, threats.
- Outcome: content removal + account warning at minimum. Repeated or severe = ban.
Hate speech
- Examples: slurs, attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
- Outcome: content removal + account warning. Repeated or severe = ban.
Inappropriate content
- Examples: explicit sexual content, graphic violence, gore, stolen-vehicle posts, illegal-mod glorification (street racing into traffic, illegal nitrous setups, etc.).
- Outcome: content removal; repeated = ban.
Impersonation
- Examples: pretending to be a known builder, brand, shop, or another user; using a username + avatar combo designed to confuse people into thinking you're someone you aren't.
- Outcome: account suspension until resolved.
What doesn't get you reported
- Strong opinions about builds. "That sounds like a terrible idea, here's why" is fine. "You're an idiot for doing that" isn't.
- Vehicle-type rivalry (car people vs truck people vs bike people). Trash-talk between scenes is part of the culture. Don't make it personal.
- Posting your dream build before you can afford it. That's the whole point of the dream-builds feature.
- Disagreeing with the moderators (us). We'd rather hear it.
How to report
Tap the Report affordance on any build, install, comment, profile, crew, event, spotting, or performance result. Pick a reason. Add context if you want. Hit Send.
You can also email [email protected] if the in-app report flow doesn't fit your case — for example, if you can't find the content anymore because the user blocked you.
What happens after you report
- You get an in-app notification when we resolve the report. It tells you what we decided (no action, content removed, account banned).
- We don't tell the reported user who filed it.
- If you're reporting something that's an emergency (someone's life in danger, ongoing threats), don't wait on us — contact local authorities first.
Blocking
Block is bidirectional. When you block someone, neither of you sees the other's content — not your builds, not theirs, not comments, not reactions, not crew posts. Crew memberships stay intact on both sides (so you don't get kicked out of a crew over a personal beef).
Use it freely. Settings → Blocked users to unblock later if you change your mind.
Appeals
If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, reply to the in-app notification or email [email protected] with a brief explanation. A different person reviews appeals than the one who made the initial call.
Final thing
We'd rather have a smaller, healthier community than a bigger, noisy one. The rules above protect that. If they sound right to you, welcome. If they don't, this probably isn't the right app for you.
